Objective

A seasoned and creative Information Architect, UI designer, and HCI researcher, I have over eight years of experience designing, developing, and evaluating advanced computer applications. I seek an industry position where I can continue working to understand users and their work practices in order to design effective, elegant, and usable systems. My research focus is in information visualization, collaboration tools, and media applications.

Freelance User Interface Designer / Information Architect Various Clients : September 2002 – Present (2008)

With IQ Interactive (Atlanta, GA), performed UI design and IA for UPS, Universal theme park, and Holland America Lines. With Avenue A | Razorfish (Atlanta, GA), performed analysis and Information Architecture for large content sites and web applications for CibaVision and Cox Communication. With Genesis 10 (New York, NY), I served as a User Experience Design Lead at Citibank NA, I served as a Senior UI Designer to rebuild legacy banking systems as a custom web application. The new application brings coherent views of customer information and organizes system functions contextually.

Graduate Research Assistant / Graduate Teaching Assistant
Georgia Institute of Technology : August 2002 – Present (2008)

Designed and developed innovative applications of computer systems in the Information Interfaces and Expressive AI (now at UCSC) research groups. Planned and performed laboratory and in situ user evaluations of ambient information systems.

Program Manager Intern
Microsoft Corporation : May 2003 – August 2003

Scoped, prototyped, and developed a detailed specification for a new user interface and multimedia development toolkit. The application will take advantage of new graphics processing and system architecture of the next generation of Windows operating systems. My focus was on animation tools.

Assistant Director of Information Technology
Center for Behavioral Neuroscience : October 2001 – February 2003

Responsible for the technology initiatives of a NSF-funded Science and Technology Center with eight member universities and 65 research faculty members. Headed a comprehensive redesign of the CBN’s public website and intranet. Performed project management, hiring, various creative and technical design for a host of educational technology projects. Performed the requirements gathering, design, and deployment of a videoconferencing system for research collaboration and education initiatives over Internet2 connections.

User Experience Specialist
BigBad, Incorporated : August 2000 – September 2001

Founding member of BigBad’s user experience practice. Collaborated with designers and technologists to infuse the design and development process with information architecture, iterative usability testing, and laboratory evaluation. Applied skills on projects ranging from innovative marketing sites for dotcoms to intranets, extranets, and complete web applications for Fortune 500 companies. Client companies included Bose, Agilent, Thule Car Racks (USA), MIT Sloan School of Management.
