Next week, I’ll be in the Netherlands for the Sensami symposium. This symposium is organized by the largest technical universities in Holland through their computer science student organizations (on a side note, I’d just like to say how I love democratic socialist countries where student unions have so much power and money!). I’ll also be visiting the Eindhoven University of Technology for a day.

At the symposium, I’ll be giving two workshop sessions on design issues in ambient information systems. These workshops will show some elements of the design space of ambient systems, and I’ll hopefully be able to demo both the InfoCanvas and the Tableau Machine (only the front end of this system, since I won’t have the sensing infrastructure with me). Of course, I’ll also bring up the evaluation issues that come into play in this design space, since this is the direction of my current work at GT. Evaluation is also a large part of my contribution on those two systems.

I will post my slides and a review of other talks next week.
