The evaluation of the Influence Machine. Methods: anecdotal, co-discovery, video taped for analysis. Stresses that this evaluation is to inform artists as designers of interactive systems. The question is: Is this a good interaction? Artists are most interested in the detail of each unique interaction. Reports findings textually from the experience of some of the more interesting users. It is anecdotal. Users are presented with the Influence Machine with only the intruction that they can place postcards on a mail box and that that will influence the emotional state of the machine. Some users experiment with it. Some are frustrated from the lack of control. Some consider the experience an intelligence test and feel they failed.
